I’ve been using this strap for a few months now. It started out working really well but the overhead straps have stretched quite a bit causing the fit/tension to be pretty loose. Due to this extra slack I can just barely get it tight enough now to be effective. I have to basically stretch the right strap over my head to my left ear.
I was unaware at the time of purchase that this item was in fact not a genuine Respironics strap. The one I received is an Avalon Air brand. It may be of poorer quality than the genuine strap but I have never used the Respironics strap so cannot vouch one way or the other.
After this strap becomes totally stretched out and useless to me I will be looking for a different one. I do not plan to purchase this strap again.
Just a statement about cpap machines?
I have had blood pressure problems since I was about 24. I have been on medicine since then. I always snored very loud and the last few years I have felt very bad. I was tired all the time and well for lack of a better way to say it I was mean and nasty. My wife finally made me go to the doctor about my snoring. I had a sleep study and when I got the results I was stunned. I stopped breathing 243 times. My blood oxygen level dropped as low as 61 percent. My doctor said that snoring cpap studies show that sleep apnea and blood pressure problems may be linked and said that I probably had it when I was 24. Furthermore he said that the reason I did not feel the effects of the sleep apnea then was simply because of my youth. I am 40 now. I got a cpap machine and wow what a differerence, I felt like a new man. I decided to(with my doctors approval) to stop taking my medicine. It has been 2 weeks now and my blood pressure is holding fine. From time to time it will go up to high normal but over all it seems to be holding. I am proof that sleep apnea is a direct cause of some peoples blood pressure problems. If you do have high blood pressure and no other cause can be found I urge you to have a sleep study. If your doctor tells you you have high blood pressure because you are over weight, Tell him you want a sleep study. Over weight people are more proned to have sleep apnea which in my opinion can and will cause high blood pressure. Thanks

The pillow is comfortable, though maybe too firm for some people’s taste, though I really like it. The cutouts for your cpap mask are only on the two lower corners, it doesn’t run all the way across. That makes it work for your head to be on a firm supportive surface but your mask will easily fit into the cutout if you sleep near one of the pillow edges. The pillow does fit into a normal sized pillow case. All in all, it’s a bit more comfortable than a normal pillow while you’re using your cpap, but it’s not a world changing difference.
Please note that this is not a snoring aid and should only be used with a CPAP ventilator, for those with sleep apnea. It should only be depicted in combination with such an apparatus. It is made of a very thin strip of neoprene. I returned the item and the company promptly refunded the entire purchase price and shipping.
i looked for several ways to help with my sleeping problems even though i use a apnea machine i needed a way to keep my mouth closed while asleep this product worked great.
I use CPAP and a night guard for grinding teeth, so I have problems keeping my mouth closed while I sleep. I fashioned a home made device from an ace bandage and some safety pins, but I needed something more durable.
I contacted my supplier, and they sent me one of these ResMed things. After 5 minutes of screwing with it, I realized that it was terribly uncomfortable (the chin cup is awful), it wouldn’t stay on my head (the narrow strap slips off of my hair), and it won’t keep my mouth closed (it doesn’t apply pressure to my chin/lower lip at the proper angles).
I am definitely giving up on this, in favor of something a little more secure.
This does the job, but after a month or so it stretched out so that it wasn’t effective. I had to shorten it by cutting a little piece out of the long strap that runs close to your eye, then sewing it back together. Easy for me, because I sew, but…I think I will have to replace it within a year.
Okay, 5 stars for me too. I’ve used these for 2 weeks straight and know I won’t be able to sleep without them. I had nostril surgery 4 years ago to rebuild the walls for support and the right one is closing again. I found this on Amazon and although it’s pretty pricey, if it works like for me, it’s worth it. If you feel yourself forcing to breath then either the size is too large or you’ve placed them inside the nostril too deeply. Don’t worry about if they hang out, they don’t fall out (for me anyway). Thanx to all who took the time to write a review and give suggestions.
This product didn’t help my snoring at all. They are also over-priced at $24.94 in my opinion as they are nothing but flexible little plastic tubes. The tubes fit in my nose fine, but I could feel that they were there which was uncomfortable. My partner also told me that my snoring was actually worse the one night I wore them. I do better with breathe-right nasal strips. They aren’t perfect, but I do snore much less when I wear them. I’ll keep looking for a better solution.
The fact that there are multiple sizes and that it’s made out of surgical silicone is great. It’s soft and it includes a little storage case that lets you put the size tube that you chose into so that you can store it and the silicone won’t get dirty, but all four of them won’t fit in the case together.
My problem with the nasal airway opener is that it falls out. I wake up in the morning and I have to find it in the sheets. It’s good that I’m sleeping and I don’t have anyone to be waking up, but it hasn’t stopped me from snoring and i’m still not getting enough air when i sleep. Perhaps one could try a larger size, but I cannot. And that’s due to the nature of my nasal difficulties. I have a deviated septum from a broken nose years ago and a larger size agravates the very thin skin and causes nose bleeds. Mind you, i get these anyway and in no way shape or form would i say this product will cause your nose to bleed, but since my nose often bleeds anyway, this product was sadly not an ideal fit.
I have yet to successfully try other products, but i hope this information is helpful to you.
I have tried several similar products and this is one of the least comfortable. It only slightly helps breathing, and was uncomfortable. To me, the fact that you are adding a tube to your nose means that the nostrils have to be that much wider in order for it work. It also didn’t seem to go in far enough to be effective. I believe it is over priced as it is only three sizes of rubber tubing with a notch cut out of it. I had much better luck with the nosovent.
